Who we are
RinGo ("we") is an app that lets you ring your own phone, or the phone of someone who has approved you, even when it is on silent. RinGo is run by Guillermo Balboa. Questions about this policy: guibalboa0@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, a hashed password if you set one (we never see the password itself) and the display name you choose. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive from them your email address, your name (Apple only shares it the first time) and an account identifier that links your RinGo account to that sign-in. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email.
- Devices: for each phone you sign in on, its name, platform (Android or iOS), an app installation ID, a push notification token, the permissions the app has been granted (for example notifications or Do Not Disturb access) and when it was last seen.
- Connections: the people you connect with, the groups you put them in, the invite links you create, and your sound and permission settings for each of them.
- Messages: the touches, rings and alerts you send or receive, including any text you add, and their delivery status (sent, delivered, ringing, seen, stopped).
- Location, only for alerts: when you send an alert and have allowed location access, your phone's location at that moment is attached to that alert and shown to its recipient. RinGo does not track your location in the background and doesn't collect it for touches or rings.
- Install referrer (Android): if you install the app from an invite link, Google Play passes the invite code to the app so the invite can be accepted automatically.
- Technical logs: our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) to keep the service running and secure.
We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we don't sell or share your data for marketing.
How we use it
Only to run RinGo: to sign you in, deliver your touches, rings and alerts to the right phones, show you their live status and history, enforce who is allowed to reach you, and prevent abuse.
Who processes it
- Fly.io hosts our servers and database (São Paulo region).
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push messages to Android and iOS, and Apple Push Notification service to iPhones. Push messages contain the sender's display name, the message type and any text or alert location.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Who can see your data
People you have connected with can see your display name, and, if you allow them, your phones' names so they can ring them. The recipient of a message sees its content. Nobody else can see your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. Invite links expire on their own. When you delete your account, your account, devices, connections, groups, invites and every message you sent or received are permanently deleted right away. Backups and server logs are overwritten within 30 days.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account, or use the account deletion page. You can also email us to ask for deletion.
Your rights
You can access and correct your data in the app, delete it as described above, or contact us to request a copy or ask any question about how it is handled.
Children
RinGo isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and its effective date. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app.
